We now have such a wide variety of jailbreak tools at our disposal that it is difficult to know exactly where to start and which one to use. Back in February Evasi0n was released, covering all iOS devices except for Apple TV 3 and working on iOS 6.0 to 6.1.2. For those who upgraded to 6.1.3 on an A5 or higher device there is no jailbreak solution and you cannot downgrade your firmware. However, for those on A4 devices there are a couple of ways around it.
Method 1 :
First up is Redsn0w. This is a popular method of performing a tethered jailbreak on the iPhone 4, 3GS or iPod Touch 4 and it also works on both Mac and Windows OS. It can also be used as a method of unlocking your saved SAM activation tickets to unlock your device to any SIM carrier. Redsn0w can also be used to downgrade to iOS 6.1.2 and then you can jailbreak using evasi0n.
Method 2 :
Next up is Sn0wbreeze, another popular tool for jailbreaking, although again, it can only be used to perform a tethered jailbreak on pre A5 devices, namely the iPhone 3GS, 4 and iPod Touch 4. Sn0wbreeze is the tool of choice for those who want, or need to preserve their baseband for unlocking purposes.

For those that are waiting for a untethered jailbreak for 6.1.3, it’s not going to happen. While the ingredients are there to build one, the dev teams have taken the decision that it is not worth wasting the exploits on such a minor upgrade. Instead they are going to wait for iOS 7, due out this year sometime.
