Failed to Decrypt Kernel Error Fix – Redsn0w

Many users are having problem jailbreakiing their iOS device powered by A4 chip that can be jailbroken on iOS 6.1.3 using Redsn0w jailbreak tool. They are frequently coming across a a problem when the jailbreak stops working with a message “Failed to Decrypt Kernel” . Follow the tutorial below to fix this issue on your Windows PC and Mac (explained below) .

Method 1 :

  1. First download Redsnow on Windows .
  2. To fix the problem of “Failed to Decrypt Kernel” you have to run Redsn0w in Administrator more right from the beginning . This can be done by right clicking on the redsnow icon and select Run As Administrator as shown in the image below .redsn0w failed to decrypt kernel redsnow run as administrator
  3. Right Click Redsn0w and select Properties. Now select Compatibility. In compatibility mode make sure there is a tick in “Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (service pack 3)” compatibility mode redsnow redsn0w
  4. Now begin he iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak process by following the tutorial .
  5. When choosing he iOS 6 firmware make sure you are selecting he correct iOS 6 ipsw for your device .

Method 2 :

If you cannot solve the kernel error problem following the steps explained above , use Sn0wbreeze to create a custom ipsw for iOS 6.1.3 and restore to it using iTunes.

sn0wbreeze-iOS 7 -jailbreak

Solution for Mac OSX Users :

Since the iPhone 4 can not be jailbroken untethered on iOS 6.1.3. You can jailbreak the iPhone 4 tethered if you are willing to deal with re-boot’s that need to be done using Redsnow connected to your computer and click “Just Boot”.

  1. Mac, OSX users can use Redsn0w to jailbreak 6.1.3 by pointing to iOS 6.0 in Extras option .

    GUYS THE FIX TO”failed to decrypt kernel” is CHOOSE IOS 6!!!!!
    DOESNT MATTER IF YOU ON 6.1.3/2 it will work.

      i must download a 6.0 firmware images then redsnow or there is a options in redsnow to use ??

        You must download a 6.0 firmware to use with redsnow.It will work perfectly with your device and you’ll fix the “failed to descrypt kernel” error.

    I’m on iOS 4 3GS and it’s iTunes update is 6.1.3 I don’t want to upgrade via iTunes because I’ll lose cydia and I’ll lose sim card capabilities…please help.

    followed all the steps and still get the same kernel error…I am using window xp pro. any other ideas? and when i go to the screen to pick compatibility i dont get the same options as shown above. my options r for older operating systems. plz help

    use 6.0 for your jailbreak. it doesn’t matter if your phone is on 6.1 6.2 or 6.3 it will work

    im having the failed to decrypt kernel message and i have tried every thing on the net but stiil have the message i di the host , used tinyumbrella , ireb and even reformated my pc and nothing seems to work , im using a windows 7 ultimate os and im going crazy about it first it showed me the 1349 error on itunes then i used umbrela & ireb and it gave me the error 11 and when i try to restore the 3gs with redsn0w it gave me the failed to decrypt kernel error i tried the host thing and nothing i tried on another pc and nothing tried to restore it on itunes and nothing and last but no least i have two 3gs with the same problem, mine and my wifes if any of you guys can tell me anything of use i will be always in debt with you i will be always thankfull to you … p.s i have the problem for about a month now .
